The deputy leader of the Greens, Konstantin von Notz, complained on Twitter about “disloyal behavior and resentment” in the coalition. “The poor performance of the Federal Chancellor, his lousy poll numbers, memory gaps at Warburg and his responsibility at Nord Stream 2” could not be “cured” in this way,” wrote the member of the Bundestag on Sunday evening.
The reason for the harsh words is likely to be criticism by SPD politicians Lars Klingbeil and Dirk Wiese of Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) because of the controversial gas levy, which will be due for all gas customers from October 1st. There is widespread criticism – including from within the company – because companies that are not in economic difficulties also benefit from the surcharge.
The SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil accused Habeck on Saturday of “technical errors” in the construction of the gas levy. “It cannot be that companies that earned billions in the crisis are still collecting billions in tax money,” he told Zeit Online.
