The BFC Dynamo has won the championship in the Regionalliga Nordost and is playing for promotion to the 3rd league. On the 38th match day, Dynamo coach Christian Benbennek’s team secured first place in the 20s league with a 4:2 (2:1) win at VSG Altglienicke.

The Berliners also benefited from the simultaneous 0:1 (0:1) defeat of Carl Zeiss Jena at Union Fürstenwalde. The second in the table could have drawn level on points with a win and a simultaneous Dynamo defeat. However, the goal difference of plus 13 goals spoke for the BFC anyway.

The champions of the Regionalliga Nordost now play against the champions of the Regionalliga Nord for promotion to the third division. VfB Oldenburg is currently the leader in the league, which will end next weekend, ahead of Weiche Flensburg.

For the BFC Dynamo, promotion would be the first participation in all-German professional football, since the Berliners could not qualify for the Bundesliga or the second division in the last season of the DDR-Oberliga. In the promotion games on May 28th, BFC Dynamo has home rights. The second leg will take place on June 4th.
