Taiwan has accused China of violating its air defense zone by military aircraft. Among them are 17 fighter jets, six bombers and special aircraft for electronic warfare, the Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday. In response, Taiwanese fighter planes took off. A Chinese statement was not available.
The air defense zone is not identical to Taiwan’s airspace, but rather a larger area that the island nation monitors and patrols to respond to threats more quickly.
