Almost three months after the deadly knife attack on 25-year-old Mohammed R., who comes from the Berlin milieu of Arab clans, no suspect has been arrested. This was announced by the public prosecutor on Tuesday on request. A spokesman did not give any further details, citing ongoing investigations.
The victim was stabbed to death on the night of May 1st at the Neuköllner Maientage folk festival in Hasenheide during a dispute between two groups.
At the beginning of May, the Berlin police set up an anonymous information portal in order to obtain further information about the crime. Witnesses who have taken photos or videos are still called upon to upload them to the portal.
With a larger police presence, Mohammed R. was buried in Schöneberg at the beginning of May in the New Twelve Apostle Churchyard. Around 1000 men attended, including members and heads of well-known extended families.
The older brother of the dead man, Nidal R., who was shot dead, was buried in the same cemetery in the presence of around 2,000 men from the clan scene from all over Germany.
Nidal R. was shot dead in autumn 2018 in front of his family on Tempelhofer Feld.
