Few shows polarize as much as the RTL formats “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette”.

Critics like to criticize the display of outdated role models. And in fact it can be seen that in the new season of “The Bachelorette” the male candidates in their villa free time are primarily shown lifting weights (in the morning) or at pool parties with beer (in the evening). Somehow the gentlemen have to pass the time until they are called on a date – then why not with dumbbells and hops?

“Woke” is probably different. And despite this (or perhaps because of this?), “The Bachelorette” is also very popular with a “woken” (translated as “awakened”) audience.

Every Wednesday, viewers of all ages gather alone (and then together via smartphone via second screen) in front of the screens to comment on the episode on Twitter, Facebook and Co. Despite all criticism of the content: When will TV shows still manage to get the masses on the screen at the same time in the age of streaming services?

For all fans and also the critics (after all, you have to know what you are criticizing) we have compiled the most important information about “The Bachelorette 2022” here.

SPOILER ALERT: If you don’t want to know which contestants had to pack their bags in the shows that have aired so far, you should skip the Night of the Roses: Who’s Out? section and the gallery of images it contains.

This year’s season is expected to have a total of 9 episodes of 90 minutes each. However, this is the net running time on the streaming service RTL. About 30 minutes of advertising are added to free TV, which means that each episode should last a total of exactly two hours.

The new season of the RTL show “The Bachelorette” started on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. on RTL.

The new episodes will then be broadcast on free TV every Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can always watch the new episodes seven days before they are broadcast on the paid streaming portal RTL (€4.99/month).

All in all, the show “The Bachelorette” will be broadcast on RTL from June 15 until August 10, probably every Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. The total broadcast time is nine weeks.

The finale of this year’s Bachelorette season is expected to be broadcast on RTL on Wednesday, August 10 at 8:15 p.m. The broadcast date has not yet been finally confirmed by RTL. The same applies to the final: With the RTL subscription, viewers can stream the show a week earlier.

At the end of each episode, the Bachelorette decides on the “Night of the Roses” which candidates have to pack their bags and leave Thailand. Anyone who receives one of the much sought-after roses may continue to stay. In the picture gallery we tell you which singles have already had to leave the villa.

The Bachelorette of the ninth season is called Sharon Battiste, is 30 years old and should already be known to some viewers. In the series format “Köln 50667” on RTL ZWEI, the actress embodied the role of “Bo” from 2018 to 2021, a former prostitute.

In the meantime, the Cologne native with German-Jamaican roots can no longer only be seen in front of TV cameras, but is also present on social networks as a model and, above all, as an influencer.

This year’s bachelorette also hits more serious tones on her Instagram profile. Sharon Battiste was diagnosed with alopecia areata, i.e. circular hair loss, in the past. Since the trained office clerk made her illness public, Battiste has been sharing her experiences as an affected person in her Instagram highlights, answering questions from the community or taking her fans on a shopping tour when it comes to trying out different wigs.

After the diagnosis, the influencer decided to finally shave her hair and put on changing wigs. In an interview with “Stern” she said proudly “The bald head gave me back my strength”.

Privately, the 30-year-old loves to dance. According to various media reports, the native of Cologne used to appear as a guard and show dancer. A plus when choosing a partner would be if your future Rosenkavalier shares your passion for this hobby. According to RTL information, the influencer also wants to award a few plus points for dry humor. At the start of the show, she announced, “I think I’m the funniest Bachelorette yet.”

A total of 20 candidates are vying for the heart of Sharon Battiste. Among the applicants are some men who have already worked in various other RTL formats, but also TV debutants.

The fact that some of the candidates have already appeared on the RTL shows “Love Island”, “Take Me Out” or “Are You The One?” is also discussed on social networks.

The questionable taste in fashion of single men is also hotly debated – especially in terms of trouser length and deficits in socks. However, it is doubtful whether the 3/4 trousers presented in the show are actually the measure of all things flood in the rest of the world.

Another point of criticism from the Twitter community is certainly due to the fact that almost all men are showing an increased level of fitness. The “Frankfurter Rundschau” also criticized a cast “in which all men with six packs from Bad Segeberg to Mettmann were represented” in its review of the show.

After all, with the candidate Yannick Syperek, there is also an applicant this year who, according to his own statements, is not a “bumper”. Compared to RTL he said “I offer less muscles, but a lot of heart”.

This year’s season was filmed in Thailand. Among other things, the cities of Bangkok and Phuket served as film locations. RTL has not yet revealed exactly where the villa of the Bachelorette candidates is located.

With a filming location in Asia, this is a real first. Never before has The Bachelorette been filmed outside of Europe. The previous Bachelorettes Maxime, Melissa, Gerda and Nadine were mainly looking for love in Greece. Other locations were France, Portugal and Spain.
