Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) receives Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Federal Chancellery on Tuesday. There are several topics on the agenda.

According to government information on Friday, Scholz and Abbas will exchange views on the current situation in the Palestinian territories, prospects for the Middle East peace process and regional issues. Bilateral issues are also on the agenda.

In recent months there have been almost daily operations by the Israeli army in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The army specifically targeted fighters from the militant Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad.
