The Mykolaiv region is facing increased missile attacks and shelling as Russian forces bolster their military presence in the neighbouring Kherson region, which experts believe is in preparation to retake land lost to Ukrainian forces. Attacks by Ukrainian partisans on Russians and collaborators in the occupied territories seem to be having an effect. They would no longer show themselves for fear of attacks.

According to politicians in Kyiv and the Ukrainian military, Ukraine currently does not have enough weapons for a large-scale offensive in the south.
