A Russian soldier indicted in Kyiv for war crimes in Ukraine has pleaded guilty. According to his lawyer, 21-year-old Vadim Shishimarin admitted shooting dead a 62-year-old civilian in the Sumy region one of the first days after the Russian invasion.

Shishimarin is accused of shooting dead an unarmed civilian from a stolen car in the northern Ukrainian village of Chupakhivka on February 28. He faces a life sentence for war crimes and murder.
