The actress Klara Höfels is dead. She died on Sunday “after a short, serious illness” in Berlin, as her agency and her family announced on Monday to the German Press Agency. The mother of the actress Alwara Höfels was 73 years old.
Moviegoers know Klara Höfels, among other things, from smaller roles in the Oscar-nominated tragic comedy “Toni Erdmann” and the Sebastian Fitzek film adaptation “Abschnitt”. She also had many television appearances, for example in the ZDF crime series “Wilsberg” and “Ein Starke Team”, the Joyn series “Jerks” with Christian Ulmen and the ZDF pre-evening series “SOKO Munich”. In addition, Höfels has appeared on numerous German theater stages.
Klara Höfels began her acting career in the theater and later came to television. In the 1970s she had engagements at the Schlosstheater Celle and the Stadttheater Kiel. Then she went to the Frankfurt Schauspiel, where she was seen, among other things, as Elmire in Molière’s “Tartuffe”.
From 1983 to 1985 Höfels worked at the Resident Theater in Munich and from 1985 to 1990 at the Staatstheater Stuttgart. Later she was a guest actress at the Berliner Ensemble as Frau Sarti in Bertolt Brecht’s “Life of Galilei”. From 1990, Höfels was also active as a director and theater producer in order to realize her own projects.
It is true that Klara Höfels already appeared in the TV series “Exciting Stories” in 1978. However, it was not until the mid-1990s that she appeared more regularly on TV screens.
