After being postponed several times, an audio file that appeared during the trial is being listened to in the trial against rapper Bushido’s ex-business partner, Arafat Abou-Chaker. The sound document is said to have been made secretly at a meeting of the musician and Abou-Chaker on January 18, 2018, which was decisive for the process. The almost two-hour file has been available to the Berlin Regional Court since February and has been transcribed. On Monday, the recording was played in the courtroom in the presence of Bushido.

Despite the poor sound quality, the voices of the musician and the sometimes angry clan chief could be heard clearly in German and Arabic.

Bushido, whose real name is Anis Mohamed Ferchichi, is a witness and joint plaintiff in the criminal proceedings. Most of the allegations are based on the statements of the 43-year-old. He should therefore be questioned again as a witness on the recording during the 77th day of the trial. An interpreter was commissioned by the court to translate the Arabic passages of the audio document or to compare the written translation with what was heard.

The charges against 46-year-old clan chief Arafat Abou-Chaker. and three of his brothers are, among other things, deprivation of liberty, attempted aggravated extortion, coercion, dangerous bodily harm, insult and infidelity.

From the point of view of the defenders of the clan boss and his brothers, the sound file refutes the depiction of Bushido. However, the musician’s lawyer doubts the authenticity of the sound document. (dpa)
