You have to sensitize the editors: Who are the actors and how do you report in a balanced way without one side being able to create a social atmosphere?
We had a case on a show with an autistic main character where people on the autistic spectrum complained that the character was portrayed in a stigmatizing way. We have to look at how we deal with it.
Luckily I’m not alone in this. There is a clear line: Every editorial team can and should do what they want. That’s right, too, that we don’t have any bans or content-related guidelines.
I also don’t understand why there is no representation for Sint*izze and Rom*nja, for example. The number of people who have a history of migration cannot even be counted on one hand in the TV Council. And I also have a wish for queer people.
And then I would be very happy if not only gay cis men sit on these mandates, but if the whole diversity of our community is represented.
