Rammstein wants to give a mega concert on New Year’s Eve in Munich – but whether the band will get the green light is questionable. The city council is likely to approve the allocation of the Theresienwiese as the event location on Wednesday. But the district administration department (KVR) responsible for the approval has serious concerns, as do the police and other parties involved.

“The organizer expects around 145,000 spectators to the Rammstein concert on the Theresienwiese,” says the meeting document of the Department for Labor and Economics. The office supports the major event because of the “worldwide” advertising effect and hopes for an increase in sales for the hotel and catering industry.

The KVR as the approving authority, on the other hand, focuses more on the organization and, above all, safety. There was a lot to be clarified from cooperation with the police and fire brigade to escape and rescue routes to arrival and departure, emphasized KVR spokesman Tobias Kapfelsberger on Tuesday.
