(Montreal) The body of a person was found early Thursday evening in a burnt shed located on private property on the Kitiganik Native Reserve in the Outaouais.

Friday morning, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was not yet able to confirm the sex of the victim or the cause of the fire. No hypothesis could yet be advanced.

An analysis of the scene and an autopsy to be performed on the body should advance the investigation.

The investigation was forwarded to the major crimes division of the Sûreté du Québec.

The Algonquin reserve of Kitiganik, also known by the name of Lac-Rapide, is located in the La Vérendrye wildlife reserve, about halfway between Mont-Laurier and Val-d’Or.
