On Saturday, a powerful winter hit the Northeast, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and blizzard conditions. Millions of people on the East Coast were faced with snowfalls between one and two feet or more.

The National Weather Service stated that “The combination of heavy-snow rates and strong winds will create dangerous blizzard situations across portions of Mid-Atlantic coasts and New England coasts from Virginia’s Eastern Shore through eastern Maine where Blizzard Warns are in effect.” Due to the whiteout conditions, travel in these areas is almost impossible today.

Massachusetts has seen tens of thousands of power outages. Boston also saw the seventh-highest snowfall in its recorded history. Weather-related issues caused more than 3500 cancellations of U.S. flights Saturday, and one NHL game was postponed.
