(Montreal) A 90-year-old pedestrian who was struck by the driver of a scooter on Monday evening in Montreal has died of his injuries.

It would be the sixth fatal collision on the island of Montreal this year, and the fourth resulting in the death of a pedestrian, said spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Jeanne Drouin.

The nonagenarian died on the night of Monday to Tuesday at the hospital center.

He had been seriously injured in the upper body during the collision which occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and Boulevard Perras, in Rivière-des-Prairies.

The driver of the scooter would have traveled east on Boulevard Perras, while the pedestrian crossed from north to south, Ms. Drouin explained on Monday.

The 39-year-old driver was treated for shock.
