(Sainte-Clotilde-De-Châteauguay) A 33-year-old man died in a road accident in Sainte-Clotilde, Montérégie, on Monday. Two other people were injured.

A head-on collision between two vehicles occurred around 4:45 p.m. on route 209 in the municipality of the MRC Les Jardins-de-Napierville. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), one of the two vehicles deviated from its lane for an unknown reason.

There were two men in the vehicle, which was traveling in a southerly direction. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Saint-Chrysostome, died. The passenger, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In the vehicle that was heading north, the driver, a woman in her twenties, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, said SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay.

The SQ did not know in the evening which of the two vehicles would have deviated from its lane. An investigation is underway.

Route 209 between 2e Rang and Chemin de l’Eglise was closed during the investigation.
