A defective espresso machine has caused a Lufthansa plane to make an unscheduled landing at Boston, Massachusetts Airport. The plane was on its way from Newark (New Jersey) to Frankfurt on Monday evening (local time) when a smoldering smell developed in the first class galley, a Lufthansa spokesman said on Tuesday.

Since it was initially unclear where the smell came from, it was decided to stop in Boston. “Safety is always the top priority,” the spokesman said.
