The Russian oil company Lukoil announced the death of its CEO Rawil Maganov on Thursday.
Maganov died as a result of a “serious illness,” the energy company announced in Moscow on Thursday. “We deeply regret to announce that Ravil Maganov has passed away after a serious illness,” Lukoil said, without providing further details about his death.
Previously, several Russian media and news agencies, citing anonymous sources, reported that Maganov died at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow. The Interfax news agency reported, citing an informed source, that Maganow fell out of a window in the clinic in the morning.
“This morning Maganov fell from a window at the Central Clinical Hospital; he died of his injuries,” the Interfax message said. According to the business newspaper RBC, Maganov fell from the sixth floor window of the hospital.
Born in 1954, Rawil Maganow co-founded the Lukoil oil company in November 1991 and became chairman in 2020. According to the company, the group name went back to his idea.
