Lufthansa and the Verdi union have agreed on a wage increase for around 20,000 airline employees on the ground. Significant salary increases have been agreed, which are disproportionately high for the lower salary brackets. Lufthansa announced this on Thursday.
This means that there is no threat of further industrial action by employees at check-in or when handling aircraft, as was the case last week.

After two years of waiver due to the Corona crisis, the agreement provides for a wage increase of 200 euros per month from July 1, 2022. From January 1, 2023, wages will increase by 2.5 percent and from July 1, 2023 by another 2.5 percent.
The third round of negotiations began on Wednesday and continued on Thursday. Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr was optimistic that a solution would be found for both the ground staff represented by Verdi and the pilots of the “Cockpit Association”.
The talks were preceded by a nationwide warning strike on Wednesday last week, which paralyzed almost Lufthansa’s entire flight schedule.
