Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig took the first step out of the earnings crisis with their first wins of the season. Bayer won in the Bundesliga on Saturday 3-0 (3-0) at FSV Mainz 05, Leipzig 2-0 (1-0) against VfL Wolfsburg. TSG Hoffenheim is also in the top third of the table after beating FC Augsburg 1-0 (1-0).
Leipzig took the lead early on. After a handball by Maxence Lacroix in the penalty area, which was convicted with the help of video evidence, Christopher Nkunku (5th) converted the penalty kick. The Saxons, where Timo Werner was on the bench until the 64th minute due to an infection, subsequently found it difficult against VfL, who played with striker Max Kruse from the start for the first time. Nkunku (90th) secured the win.
Leverkusen took the lead in Mainz through Exequiel Palacios (29′), Jeremie Frimpong (39′ and 41′) scored twice before the break. Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie received a yellow card after repeated foul play in the 77th minute, as did team-mate Mitchel Bakker in added time.
