Before the teenage years Ivan the saints have never seen the sea. However, thanks to his tenacity he remained in history as one of the most talented naval commanders. And in the beginning of the great Patriotic war, according to Admiral Vladimir Tributs, the author of the book “Baltic fleet fight,” the saints even got the proud nickname of “Sea Chapaev”. And it wasn’t just a physical similarity the then captain of the 2nd rank with the legendary division commander.

a Childhood without the sea

Ivan G. Svyatov was born in 1903 in the village of Pecheneg Petrovsky district. However, childhood and youth he spent in the village Bessonovka, Penza district. The fact that the mother of the future rear Admiral, Anna tracina, having an already large family, willingly gave his son to casual acquaintances, who could not have children. Military services

In 1943, the saints became the chief of staff of a squadron of ships of the Baltic fleet. But most interesting is that “sea Chapaev” commanded the January salute 1944 in honour of breaking the blockade of the Northern capital. The great Patriotic war, the saints finished as the chief of the Detachment of light forces of the Pacific fleet.

Chapaev

By the time it is firmly stuck the nickname “sea Chapaev”. And it wasn’t just a physical similarity. In 1960, he was discharged, after which he lived another 23 years. He died in Leningrad, the city which he defended and which had become native to him.
