According to the Senate, gender spelling is not included in the curriculum of Berlin schools. The schools would have to stick to the spelling provided in the curricula, “this will ensure, among other things, the standard-compliant language acquisition and use,” replied the Senate Education Administration to a request from CDU MPs.
Deviating norms that regulated the use of Binnen-Star, Binnen-I or other linguistic gender forms did not exist.
The schools are free to decide how they deal with deviations from the official spelling due to gender spelling. There are no Senate requirements for this.
