In addition to the party Die Linke, the right-wing extremist splinter party Freie Sachsen also wants to demonstrate against the federal government in Leipzig on Monday evening. The city’s regulatory office confirmed this on Thursday on request.

A total of seven rallies from the right and left have been registered for Monday. The police are preparing for a larger operation, as a spokesman said.

The left-wing faction’s commissioner for Eastern Europe, Leipzig member of the Bundestag Sören Pellmann, has announced a demo under the slogan “Hot autumn against social indifference”. Official title: “Prices down – energy and food must be affordable!”

Left-wing leader Martin Schirdewan and former parliamentary group leader Gregor Gysi are to appear there, among others. 3,000 to 4,000 participants are expected.

At the same place, the central Augustusplatz, and at the same time, the event “Free Saxony support the Monday protest by Sören Pellmann and the left – together against those above” is registered for ten participants.

The district association of the right-wing AfD is also expecting ten participants to take part in an action on the outskirts of the city. In addition, there are other left-wing groups with their own demos at the start.

Pellmann and Die Linke expressly distance themselves from right-wing protesters. “This is the helpless attempt by the right to somehow play a role,” said Pellmann of the German Press Agency.

“The panic must be great on the right if they want to crawl under the skirts of the left. Leipzig will not leave Monday to the right.” Democratic resistance is needed against high energy prices and “the simultaneous arrogance of traffic lights”.
