A forest fire broke out in the Saxon Switzerland National Park. It burns in rough terrain near the famous Bastei Bridge, said a spokesman for the rescue control center in Dresden.

All fire departments in the area are deployed. About 100 comrades tried to get the fire under control, it said. Two of them were injured during the operation, reports the MDR.

The fire was reported on Monday night around half past twelve, and since then several fire brigades in the country have been deployed, writes the volunteer fire brigade from the spa town of Rathen on Facebook.

The Freie Presse writes that around 2,500 square meters have already been affected by the fire.
