Nearly 2,000 unionised employees at the port in eastern England, including crane drivers, machine operators and stevedores, started their walkout Sunday morning in the first strike at Felixstowe since 1989. A fire broke out on a car ferry with around 300 people on board off the south-eastern Swedish coast on Monday. According to a spokesman for the Swedish Maritime Administration, three helicopters and seven ships were dispatched to the scene and evacuation of the ferry began.

“We have been informed of a limited fire, the firefighting is ongoing,” a spokesman for the ferry company Stena Line told Swedish radio.

A spokeswoman for the Swedish sea rescue center told the TT news agency that there were no reports of injuries. “We have received information from the ship that the fire should be under control. But we have alerted all available units to be on site should an evacuation be necessary.” All available pilot boats and helicopters have been dispatched to the ferry.
