A few thousand people demonstrated for climate justice on Saturday in Montreal, during the traditional Earth Day march.

“Here, now, for our children!” and “Gas, oil, we’re fed up!” they chanted to the sound of the drums.

The procession set off in the early afternoon in front of the George-Étienne Cartier monument, located on the side of Mount Royal.

Under a cloudy sky, demonstrators of all ages demanded the exit from fossil fuels to slow global warming.

“It’s very heavy to say that we have no future. I’m 18 and I feel like I have no future,” dropped Marielle Lauzon-Poirier, who says she suffers from eco-anxiety.

Demonstrations were also planned in Quebec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Chicoutimi, Joliette, Rouyn-Noranda and Baie-Comeau.
