(Montreal) Two people were arrested for drug and firearms trafficking during a police operation that led to searches in three municipalities of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, in Montérégie, on Thursday.
Police arrested Mikaël Bissonnette, 33, who appeared, as well as a 44-year-old woman who was released and is expected to appear at a later date, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said in a statement Friday.
The police also carried out five searches related to drug trafficking in the municipalities of Coteau-du-Lac, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Les Coteaux. They visited four residences and a vehicle.
During these interventions, the officers seized more than 5 kg of cocaine, a sum of more than $13,000, a handgun and two replica weapons.
The operation, which is part of the strategy to fight against armed violence, Centaur, stems from an investigation initiated last March thanks to information received from the public, indicated the SQ.
