(Laval) The Service de police de Laval (SPL) reports Friday the arrest earlier this week of two men linked to the world of narcotics which led to searches leading to the seizure of several firearms as well as a large amount of drugs.

The investigation, which began last December, allowed SPL investigators to gather information on the two individuals who allegedly engaged in criminal activities in Laval and the Lower Laurentians. Arrest and search warrants were obtained for two residences and a vehicle in Saint-Hyacinthe, in Montérégie, as well as in Bois-des-Filion.

Alexandre Duval, 31, faces charges of drug trafficking, possession of weapons and concealment. Simon Mathieu Therrien-Guay, 27, is facing charges of simple possession of narcotics and breach of conditions.

Police say the two suspects remain in custody pending further court proceedings.

The results of the searches reveal in particular the seizure of four firearms and ammunition, more than 843 grams of cocaine, crack, cannabis, hundreds of methamphetamine tablets and cannabis resin.

Cash and a vehicle were also seized.

The collaboration of members of a few other police forces was necessary to carry out the operations.
