After the death of a four-year-old girl in Klempowsee in Brandenburg, the supervisors do not have to expect criminal consequences.

The public prosecutor sees no initial suspicion that the girl’s grandparents have violated their duty of care, said the spokesman for the North Police Department, Joachim Lemmel, on Thursday when asked.

According to him, at the time of the accident on Tuesday evening, the girl’s parents had already left the family celebration in a lakeside restaurant. Therefore, the grandparents would have had the duty of supervision. They were busy cleaning up when the girl went missing. Police were called at 6:40 p.m.

A large-scale search operation by police officers and the fire brigade immediately began. The emergency services were supported by many volunteers, as the spokesman said.

A helicopter flew over the area, the forest and the banks were searched with sniffer dogs, and firefighters were out on the water in boats.
