The concert by the band “Die Ärzte” at Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin on Friday has been cancelled. As the organizer announced on Twitter on Friday afternoon, due to an approaching storm, the event was forced to end for safety reasons. The band also announced the cancellation on their website.

Concert-goers were asked to leave the venue. Anyone who still wanted to travel should not come or turn back. According to the organizer, the concert should have started at 6 p.m., and admission was in the afternoon.

Two more doctors’ concerts are planned for the weekend at the former Tempelhof Airport. “The events on Saturday and Sunday will take place as planned according to the current status,” wrote the organizer.

The Berlin State Ballet also met the weather conditions on Friday: The planned boat tour “From Berlin with love”, which should have taken place as part of the cultural summer festival on the Spree, was postponed, as the State Ballet announced on Facebook on Friday afternoon. Now the tour is scheduled to take place on Monday September 12th.

The German Weather Service had temporarily issued an official severe weather warning for Berlin on Friday afternoon before heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain and heavy rain. Heavy gusts of wind were also expected. By 5:00 p.m., this had been lifted.

The Berlin fire brigade also warned of the thunderstorm on Twitter and advised Berliners to stay at home if possible, clear balconies and unplug TVs. You should fight minor water damage yourself to keep firefighters free for important operations.

Major damage, for example from flooded basements, has largely failed to materialize in Berlin. “At the moment, our emergency services are mainly on reconnaissance trips,” said a fire department spokesman on request on Friday afternoon. They follow up on tips and alarms without always resulting in an action.

There were also problems at BER Airport in Schönefeld on Friday afternoon due to thunderstorms. As the airport company announced on Twitter, the handling had been temporarily suspended. She has since been reinstated.

For the weekend, the German Weather Service also announced rain in the capital region: Until Saturday evening there will be thunderstorms and local extreme storms due to heavy rain. The maximum temperatures on Saturday are between 24 and 26 degrees, and according to the weather service there are still showers and thunderstorms in some areas on Sunday night.
