In the murder trial of two police officers killed near Kusel (Palatinate), witnesses testified to shots and the last radio messages on the night of the crime. In the fully occupied room in the Kaiserslautern district court, the main defendant repeated his version, according to which he had only fired in a kind of self-defense situation during the nightly vehicle inspection at the end of January.

The court decided on Tuesday to hand over the recording of the shots to the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office. “They listen to how, where, what is – and they can say whether that is plausible or not,” said judge Raphael Mall on the ninth day of the hearing.

Prosecutors have accused the main defendant of shooting a 24-year-old police officer and a 29-year-old police commissioner in the head to cover up poaching.
