Commercial sports courses cannot simply be held freely in Berlin parks, but must be approved by the responsible authorities. This was decided by the administrative court and thus dismissed the lawsuit filed by a course organizer against the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, as announced on Tuesday.

Among other things, the organizer offers fitness training with up to 20 participants in parks, including the Gleisdreieck Park in Kreuzberg. The district banned it because an extra permit was required. The company sued.

The court emphasized that the condition for the general use of the parks is that the events cannot be commercial. The course provider is not part of the population in need of or seeking relaxation.
