The climate protection initiative “Last Generation” smeared a wall of the Federal Chancellery with black liquid during a protest on Wednesday.

“Save oil instead of drilling” was written on the banners of the 20 or so young people who took part in the campaign. The demonstrators also poured black liquid on the ground, and the police were quickly on site.

The group said their “visual protest action” was aimed at “Climate Chancellor” Olaf Scholz (SPD). The demonstrators are therefore demanding a statement against new oil drilling in the North Sea.

On Monday and Tuesday in Berlin, the initiative had already blocked around ten exits on the A100 city motorway in the morning. Some of the demonstrators stuck to the streets.

This caused traffic jams on the freeway during rush hour. 180 police officers were on duty on Tuesday. 75 demonstrators were provisionally arrested on Monday.

The initiative demands a declaration from Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) that no new infrastructure will be built to use fossil fuels. The actions of this week had been announced and should take place every morning.
