The sale of the 9-euro ticket in Berlin has started – even before the final decision of the Federal Council expected for Friday morning. The promotional ticket for the months of June, July and August is already available in the Berliner Vekehrsbetriebe (BVG) app.

The Bundestag had decided on the financing on Thursday, and the project was on the agenda of the Bundesrat on Friday.

The ticket costs 9 euros per month and entitles you to use local buses and trains nationwide for one month. The offer is intended to relieve commuters because of the high energy prices and to encourage people to permanently switch to buses and trains for more climate protection.

The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg had announced the start of ticket sales for this Saturday. (dpa)
