The Chairwoman of the Broadcasting Council of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), Friederike von Kirchbach, is resigning from her position with immediate effect.
“rbb is about to make a new start. After ten years as Chair of the Broadcasting Council, I would like to make a contribution and make my position available. With the dismissal of Patricia Schlesinger as artistic director, our committee cleared the way for new structures and people in rbb. For everything that comes now, I see new people in charge, so I’m resigning,” said von Kirchbach on Saturday, according to a broadcaster’s announcement.
In her statement, von Kirchbach emphasizes that the Broadcasting Council is a central institution in public broadcasting. “For me, the voluntary work in this body was enriching, I was happy to take on the task as chairman.” The ongoing debate about the ARD station and the public service system should not be about people, for them the matter is in the foreground Foreground.

Friederike von Kirchbach has headed the Broadcasting Council since January 2013 and has been a member of the body since 2007, which she is also leaving with immediate effect. She was sent by the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia. The Deputy Chairman of the Broadcasting Council is Dieter Pienkny, who will initially take over the official business on an interim basis.
