The British Army has become the target of a hacker attack. The accounts of the armed forces in the short message service Twitter and on the video platform YouTube had been attacked, said the Ministry of Defense in London on Sunday. “We will conduct a full investigation and learn from this incident.”

The British Army’s YouTube account has been rebranded and videos about cryptocurrencies and images of US entrepreneur Elon Musk have surfaced. A number of messages about so-called Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) have been distributed by the Armed Forces Twitter account.

An NFT is a virtual asset that is unique and non-exchangeable. Like cryptocurrencies, the NFT system is based on blockchain technology. In contrast to cryptocurrencies, however, a non-fungible token is unique and, to a certain extent, a digital collector’s item that can be sold or exchanged using a certificate.

The problem was later fixed. The army has regained full control over the accounts. The army has 362,000 followers on Twitter. The Youtube channel has 177,000 subscribers. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
