He shaped the Rundfunkchor Berlin for 41 years, first as a singer, then after the reunification as a manager: Hans-Hermann Rehberg is now retiring in the summer. And because he initiated the handover to his successor Rachel-Sophia Dries in good time, the new choir director was able to set her own priorities in the program planning for the coming season. For example, that this time sacred music by Ukrainian composers will be heard at the traditional Christmas concert in the Berlin Cathedral. And the new series of the “Rundfunkchor Lounge” in Heimathafen Neukölln also goes back to her initiative: moderated by Boussa Thiam, topics such as migration and being alone will be discussed.

In total, the Rundfunkchor Berlin will sing in 43 concerts in 2022/23, five times it has been invited to the Berlin Philharmonic, three times to the DSO, once each to the Konzerthausorchester and the RSB. In the Deutsche Oper, the choir acts on stage in a scenic version of Verdi’s “Requiem”. In addition to the cathedral concert, chief conductor Gijs Leenaars will also lead a literary and musical evening with works by Mahler and Pascal Dusapin. Tickets for pupils and students will in future be offered at a reduced price in advance
