In this year’s Abitur examinations, Berlin’s schoolchildren achieved an average grade of 2.2 and thus improved. In the past two years, the average was 2.3, from 2011 to 2019 it was 2.4. The increase can be attributed above all to better results at the integrated secondary schools and community schools as well as the vocational high schools and schools in independent sponsorship, said the education administration on Friday.

There, the average Abitur grade improved by 0.1 points compared to the previous year. At public high schools, the average of 2.2 had already been reached in 2021.

According to the information, 13,068 of 13,536 Berlin examinees passed the Abitur in 2022. The rate of 96.5 percent is slightly lower than in the previous year (96.7). 810 high school graduates achieved the dream grades of 1.0 and 1.1. This corresponds to 6.2 percent and means an increase compared to 2021 (5.4 percent). One high school graduate even achieved the maximum score of 900 points.
