Ukrainian forces may have managed to destroy the headquarters of the Russian mercenary group Wagner in western Luhansk region. This is reported by the “Institute for the Study of War” (ISW), citing Russian and Ukrainian sources.

The base, 40 kilometers northeast of the town of Bakhmut, “probably enabled the Wagner Group command to coordinate various offensive operations in northeastern Donetsk Oblast from Russian-held territory in Luhansk Oblast,” the ISW situation report on Monday said.

The basis for the attack – presumably with Himars rocket launchers – could have been the visit of a Russian blogger to the base in early August, the ISW continues. His messages and photos on the messaging service Telegram could have contributed to the localization of the Wagner base.
