A car burned on Obstallee in the Staaken district of Berlin-Spandau in the night from Sunday to Monday. As the police announced on Monday morning, the car caught fire and damaged another car.

A passer-by called the police and fire department. It was initially unclear how the fire started. The Obstallee was closed for about an hour.

The Obstallee is located in the Spandau housing estate Heerstraße Nord, which has been repeatedly affected by arson for more than a year. According to the police, there has been an increase in fires there since April 2021. In more than 80 cases, it is checked whether they go to the same people.

Among other things, the police are targeting a gang of young people – but all efforts to convict them have so far been unsuccessful. Young people from other parts of the city should also travel to Staaken “in the mood for action”, reported Spandau’s youth councilor Oliver Gellert (Greens) in the Spandau newsletter of the Tagesspiegel. Police circles report that one street is particularly conspicuous.
