The federal prosecutor arrested a suspected supporter of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) in Berlin on Tuesday. The Syrian is said to have traveled to his home country in 2019 to fight for IS or to carry out attacks, according to the Karlsruhe authorities. When that failed due to an injury, he was the contact person for IS women who wanted to flee from a Kurdish camp.

The investigators also accuse the man of having organized money transfers to IS six months after his return. In addition, he is said to have bought three assault rifles through intermediaries in Syria.
