(Montreal) Two bodies were found during two separate events in Montérégie and Gaspésie on Tuesday, indicates the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The first was discovered by a woman from Saint-Zotique who was doing maintenance on her property on 72nd Avenue around 4:10 p.m. She saw the body of a man floating near a wharf and alerted the services emergency.

The latter managed to recover the body, that of an adult man whose death was declared on the spot, specifies the spokesperson for the SQ, Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

The body was taken to the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine for identification and for an autopsy.

The second body was discovered in a canal behind a gas station on Sainte-Anne Boulevard West, in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Gaspésie, around 7:30 p.m.

“Given the state in which the body was found, the death was declared on the spot. This is an obvious death, “says Sergeant Bilodeau.

An autopsy will be required to identify the body as well as the person’s gender. It wouldn’t be a recent death.
