In Reinickendorf, a 56-year-old man who was riding his bicycle died in an accident with a turning truck on Wednesday morning. The police confirmed this to the Tagesspiegel.

According to the police, the accident happened around eight o’clock in the morning on Gotthardstrasse at the corner of Teichstrasse in Reinickendorf. The cyclist and the truck driver were traveling in the same direction from Brusebergstrasse. The cyclist went straight on the cycle path. When the 37-year-old truck driver wanted to turn right onto Gotthardstrasse, he overlooked the cyclist and caught him. As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell under the truck and was run over. The man died at the scene of the accident.

The truck driver suffered a shock and was treated on site by rescue workers. The traffic investigation service of the police and an expert have taken over the exact investigations into the course of the accident, they are ongoing. While the fire brigade and police were deployed, the scene of the accident was largely closed to road traffic.
