A 60-year-old woman was hit by a bicycle in her boat on Sunday afternoon and seriously injured.
According to the police on Monday, the woman was traveling in her sports boat in the lower lock of the Landwehr Canal in Tiergarten shortly after 1 p.m. when the bicycle suddenly fell on her from the lock bridge.
The 60-year-old suffered a laceration on the head and a bruise on the leg and several abrasions. The crew of a police boat, which was also in the lock, provided first aid and treated the injured.
Meanwhile, according to the police, a witness drew the attention of the emergency services to a man who was walking away from the bridge and who was said to be the suspect.
The police officers followed the 44-year-old and arrested him. He was taken into police custody for identification purposes. After officers established his identity, the man was released.
He now has to answer for dangerous interference in shipping traffic and dangerous bodily harm.
