A girl died in a serious accident on a roller coaster at an amusement park in the Danish city of Aarhus.

The 14-year-old came from the capital Copenhagen, as the responsible police announced on Thursday. A 13-year-old boy was injured in the accident.

A TV2 reporter had previously reported at the scene that he heard a bang and then saw a rear car of the 25-meter-tall “Cobra” roller coaster break free.

The Tivoli Friheden confirmed on Facebook and Instagram in the afternoon that the rearmost car had broken off during the operation of the railway. The amusement park was subsequently closed until further notice. Psychological help was offered to those affected.

According to the police, the exact cause of the accident should now be clarified by technical investigations and witness interviews.
