The new Bundesliga season starts with the Berlin derby. So the 1. FC Union Berlin and Hertha BSC already meet on the first match day on 6./7. August in the stadium An der Alten Försterei. This was announced by the German Football League (DFL) on Friday.

“It’s an exciting start to our fourth Bundesliga season. In the first half of the season we have more away games than games on home turf, which is very demanding,” said Union football manager Oliver Ruhnert in a club statement.

After the first Bundesliga game, the Irons travel to 1. FSV Mainz 05 before the RB Leipzig team visits Köpenick the following weekend. Hertha will host Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt for the first home game of the season on August 12-14.
