In September 2018, singer Marteria fulfilled a dream: he gave a concert for 32,000 spectators in the Ostseestadion. Where he once played football and was captain of the youth teams at Hansa Rostock.

To this day he is deeply rooted in his homeland. That’s why the first concert of his full contact tour in 2022 should now take place there. But this plan changed spontaneously a few weeks ago and the tour dates were supplemented by two more cities.

The first gig of the tour was moved from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to Brandenburg. From the Baltic Sea in Rostock to the Baltic Sea in Cottbus – although the Brandenburg Baltic Sea is still in the making.

On Friday, Marten Laciny, as his real name is, played not in front of 32,000 spectators. At his first solo concert after a break of almost four years, only 700 die-hard fans were allowed to attend. The Gladhouse just can’t hold more people.

Just in time for the start of storm “Emmelinde”, the last people waiting in line pour into the Gladhouse in the rain shower. For many it is the first concert in two years without corona hygiene measures, without a mask. “Are you up to going crazy with us tonight, Cottbus?” Marteria calls from the stage. The beginning of an hour and a half demolition.

But why Cottbus of all places? As a Rostocker, Marteria knows: In areas like Meck-Pom or Brandenburg, such concerts are rather the exception. Reason enough to make the fans in the depths of Brandenburg happy.

In October 2021 Marteria released his tenth album “5. Dimension” released. In Cottbus he played old classics like “Kids” or “Lila Wolken” as well as the new singles “Nobody brings Marten to” or “Love Peace and Happiness” for 90 minutes.

In the run-up to the concert, he admitted in an interview with Radio Fritz that he was excited despite his many years of stage experience. And at the performance then actually the text hanger. “Yes Leude, something like that happens at the first gig,” Marteria apologizes. The viewers leave it cold. It only makes him more likeable.

And the name of the tour says it all at the end: in full contact with the fans, Marten Laciny jumps off the stage shortly before half past ten and joins the audience. “Now even my microphone broke. That’s the way it has to be, Cottbus! More is not possible.”

“Thank you, you horny people,” says Marteria at 10:30 p.m. The spectators stream outside happily. Sweaty from the heat of the Gladhouse, out in the rain.

And just ten minutes later, storm depression “Emmelinde” really starts to rage. “The stadium next!” The rapper promised. The people of Cottbus take him at his word and are already looking forward to it.
