(Montreal) Several rivers and lakes in some regions of Quebec remain under the special surveillance of Public Security, Monday morning, while the weather forecast announced precipitation for a few days in most of them.

At the end of the night, only one average flood was observed, in Quesnel Bay of the Ottawa River in Rigaud, in Montérégie.

A dozen minor floods were reported, but in almost all cases, Public Safety reported that the water level trend was rising. This was particularly the case on certain shores of Lac des Deux-Montagnes, in the Montreal region, and Maskinongé in Mauricie, as well as near the Petite Nation and Ottawa rivers, the Rivière des Prairies and even on the shores of the Black River and the Ouareau River.

Monitoring of a few other lakes and rivers was also underway.

The rain warnings issued by Environment Canada for the start of the week remained in effect Monday morning, in several regions: Outaouais, Lanaudière, Laurentides, Montérégie, Mauricie, Centre-du-Québec, Capitale-Nationale and Charlevoix.

For its part, the Ottawa River Planning and Regulation Commission predicted on Sunday that water levels could rise above the peak levels seen last week along the Ottawa River due to additional runoff. generated by precipitation. The Commission also predicted minor flooding in areas prone to flooding in the stretch from the Gatineau region to the Montreal region.
