After a Russian shell from the Second World War was blown up in Berlin-Lichterfelde, S-Bahn traffic on line S1 has started again.

The explosive device was found on Tuesday afternoon at the Botanical Garden train station, the police said. The grenade was detonated in a controlled manner in the evening.

The ban has been lifted. The residents of two residential buildings in the area had previously been asked to stay on the side of their apartment facing away from the botanical garden. (dpa)
