Russian skaters took second place in the medal standings of the world championship on separate distances, which was held in the U.S. city of salt lake city. Russians won 12 medals – three gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

Two gold medals of Russia brought Pavel Kulizhnikov (500 m, 1000 m) and one – Natalia Voronina (5000 m). It is worth noting that Paul and Natalie set a world record at this world championship.

Silver took Ruslan Murashov (500 m), angelina Golikova (500 m), Olga Fatkulina (1000 m), Eugene Lalenkova (1500 m) and bronze was won by Fatkulina (500 m), Voronin (3000 m) and Elizabeth Casalina (1500 m).

women’s national team (Fatkulina, Golikova, Darya Kachanova) took second place in the sprint and men’s team (Danila Semerikov, Ruslan Zakharov, Sergey Trofimov) became the third in the pursuit.

First in the medal standings was the team of the Netherlands, which has 14 awards (7-5-2), and the third – team Canada (3-2-4).
